Fencing is really three sports, as there are three weapons used for fencing:

Foil

Foil is a point weapon. What that means is that a touch (or point) can only be scored with the point. Cutting/slashing with the weapon does not score touches. Foil fencing makes use of right-of-way rules. Take a class to find out what that means!

Èpèe

Epee is also a point weapon. Cutting/slashing with the weapon does not score touches. Epee fencing is a hit your opponent first weapon. Right-of-way, schmight of way!

Sabre

Sabre is, of course, the best weapon. Points can be scored with the point, or with a cut. Sabre fencing also makes use of right-of-way rules. And in no way should you infer that the web master primarily prefers to fence sabre. What would make you think that?
